American Public Television Shows Earn Eight Daytime Emmy® Nominations
LIDIA'S ITALY IN AMERICA, BIZ KID$, JOSEPH ROSENDO'S TRAVELSCOPE and others recognized for industry's top honorsBOSTON (MAY 1, 2013) – American Public Television (APT), a leading distributor of programs for public television, congratulated suppliers of several of its best known and most popular programs which received eight Daytime Emmy® nominations from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).
APT programs accounted for eight of the 45 (nearly 18 percent) public television nominees for the 2013 Daytime Emmys®. Without APT programming, public television would have ranked fourth along with Nickelodeon and behind ABC.
BIZ KID$, the Parents' Choice Award-winning series that teaches kids financial responsibility and entrepreneurship, received multiple nominations in the categories of "Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Live Action" and "Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Editing."
The acclaimed Emmy®-winning travel show JOSEPH ROSENDO'S TRAVELSCOPE — hosted by veteran travel, food and wine journalist and travel broadcaster Joseph Rosendo — earned two nominations for "Outstanding Directing in a Lifestyle/Culinary/Travel Program," and "Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Photography (Film or Electronic)." Additionally, the APT program OVER HAWAII received a nomination for "Outstanding Travel Program."
Famed Italian chef Lidia Bastianich, host of APT's LIDIA'S ITALY IN AMERICA, earned a nomination for "Outstanding Culinary Host" alongside such formidable competition as Giada de Laurentiis and Ina Garten, while culinary favorite SARA'S WEEKNIGHT MEALS was nominated for "Outstanding Directing in a Lifestyle/Culinary/Travel Program."
GET THE MATH, an innovative documentary that helps students develop algebraic thinking skills, was nominated for "Outstanding New Approaches – Original Daytime Program or Series." GET THE MATH 2.0 will be available will be available in the fall.
